The first CYPRUS INTERNATIONAL FOLK FESTIVAL will take place from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th November in and around Erimi, Limassol.
Events will include a concert, workshops, open singaround and tune sessions, a ceilidh and a Limassol Folk Club “special edition” to round the whole thing off. There will also be a small craft fair. Friday and Saturday events will be at various venues in Erimi, while Sunday sees the Festival move to Ayios Ermogenis, just off Kourion Beach.
Artists include Dr Sunshine; Mick Bramich & Steve Potter: Carillyon; Jim Hanlon; Iain Adan; Ed Caines, Derek Simpson and Rob Neal; Argonaftes Dance Group; Michael Theodorou (bouzouki); and others from far and near. FRIDAY: The Festival is planned to start with a music & song session at The Buccaneer, Erimi, on Friday afternoon, followed by a concert at the Argo Theatre.
SATURDAY: begins with a children’s workshop at the Nikos & Sokratis Club, Erimi, followed by workshops in songwriting, guitar technique, Cypriot dance, and a sea songs workshop session, at various nearby venues in the village. The craft fair will be open from 11am-4pm outside the main venue. The Club is also the venue for the Saturday evening ceilidh/barn dance with guest spots between bursts of general social dancing to Rannygazoo & Friends.
SUNDAY: The Festival finishes with a late morning session followed by a bumper Limassol Folk Club at Ayios Ermogenis Taverna, Curium Beach Road, Episkopi.
