Cartoon Profile Picture craze gets hijacked

Most of us remember the Cartoon Profile Picture that turned the majority of our island’s Facebook home feeds into what can only be described as a trip down memory lane.

Well according to Mashable, this craze has hit the US too and been claimed as a campaign to End Violence Against Children. Very different from the original message to simply make no human faces on The Book for a period of time.

Not the most vicious of hijacks, and we support the cause to end violence against children, but we’d love to find out where the ORIGINAL craze originated in the beginning… some say Mexico… but all we know is that it hit Greece and Cyprus before the US and the UK, just proving the viral ideas can move from our island to the big island that’s now covered in snow.

Guess it’s a better time than ever that we are launching www.HottestUNI.com in the UK, taking our little spin on viral competitions across to the Queen’s land. With great successes in 2009 and 2010 with Hottest OnThisIsland, we hope that you will join us in finding the Hottest Students and Universities in the United Kingdom. (Check the fan page for HottestUNI.com out for more info).
