7th NATIONAL CLASSIC COCKTAIL COMPETITION – Pre Dinner & Long Drink –
6th NATIONAL FLAIRENDING COCKTAIL COMPETITION

The purpose of the compeitions is to declare the 2 best bartenders in the 2 categories they will represent Cyprus in 2011 World Competitions organised by the International Bartenders Association I.B.A. Warsaw Poland

7th NATIONAL CLASSIC COCKTAIL COMPETITION – Pre Dinner & Long Drink

For the CLASSIC COCKAIL COMPETITION the competitors have to create and present -2- ORIGINAL RECIPES. One recipe for the PRE DINNER category and one recipe for the LONG DRINK categorie AND have to prepare and present -2- COCKTAILS for each category in SEVEN (7′) MINUTES . Seven (7′) minutes for all the 4 cocktails of both categories.

* * The winner of the Classic Cocktail Competition will nominated of the judgement of *BOTH COCKTAILS* together ! from the Taste Judges and will represent Cyprus to the 2011 World Classic Cocktail Competition * *

1st WINNER and 2nd WINNER (Runner Up) : TASTE – AROMA – APPEARANCE . The cocktails of the two categories (Pre Dinner & Long Drink) will evaluated from -2- Committees of -3- Judges (Sommeliers/Chefs/Gastronomy Journalists/Managers Hotels & Rests . .etc) one committee for each category for the Taste , the Aroma and the Appearance of the cocktails. The winner will represent Cyprus in Poland.

1st WINNER Technical Skills – EFFICIENCY PRIZE – : A commettee of professional bartenders members and friends of Cy.B.A. will judge and nominate the winner for the EFFICIENCY PRIZE for the skills on the use of the bar tools and the efficiency in the preparation and presantation of a cocktail.

1st WINNER BEST GARNISH / APPEARANCE : Professional bartenders members and friends of Cy.B.A. will judge and nominate the winner of the BEST GARNISH / APPEARANCE.

ALL THE JUDGEMENTS AND EVALUATIONS OF THE TASTE / AROMA /APPEARANCE / SKILLS / PRESENTATIONS AND THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE COMPETITIONS ARE ACCORDANCE TO ALL THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE International Bartenders Association I.B.A.

ALL THE COMPETITORS HAVE TO BE REGISTERED MEMBERS OF THE Cyprus Bartenders Association – Cy.B.A – WITH THEIR REGISTRATION FEES ARRANGED ! ! * ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE 50 EURO *

All recipes have to be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Bartenders Association I.B.A. All recipes have to be send to the Cyprus Bartenders Association – Cy.B.A. – untill MARCH 3rd to valuated and prepared for the competition.

RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CLASSIC COCKTAIL COMPETITION

PARTICIPATION
1. All registered members of the Cyprus Bartenders Association Cy.B.A. with their annual registration fees for the 2011 arranged can take part to the competition and have the chance to represent Cyprus at the World Cocktail Competition

CATEGORIES
2. Pre Dinner Cocktai & Long Drink

METHODS – GLASSES
3. Methods can be used : a) Build (directly in glass) b) Stir (in mixing glass) c) Shake (strain/double strain) d) Blend (electric)
4. All competitors have to bring and use there own bar tools
5. Glassware will be provided by Cy.B.A. according to the categories of the cocktails from our sponsors and will be : MARTINI – OLD FASHIONED /
COCKTAIL COUPE – COLLINS

INGREDIENTS – MEASURING
6.Each recipe should contain a Maximum of seven (7) ingredients INCLUDING Drops / Dashes And sprays or ANY other ingredient in the drink.
* At least two (2) but NOT MORE than four (4) Alcoholic Beverages *
7. Each recipe should contain a MINIMUM of three (3cl) centilitre of a base content of an alcoholic spirit ( Vodka/Gin/Rum/Whisky/Tequila . . etc)
* But NOT EXEED the seven (7cl) centilitre *
8.Recipes should expresed in centilitres (cl) divided in WHOLE NUMBERS (1cl/2cl etc) or HALFS (0.5cl/1.5cl/2.5cl etc)
9. Ingredients may be poured with measuring cups or may freely poured
10. NOT ALLOWED :
a) Hot Drinks or Coffees
b) Home Made or Self Made ingredients (home made infusions of syrups or alcoholic beverages)
c) Food – Dyes ( coloring )
d)Blending of few ingredients to counted as one
11. * * RECIPES SHOULD BE MADE PREFERABLY WITH INGREDIENTS FROM THE SPONSORS LIST of the Cyprus Bartenders Association – Cy.B.A. – * *

GARNISHES
11. Garnishes should be only of eatable fruits / vegetables / herbs / spices
Hard to find materials should be provited by the competitors BEFORE the competition. * * The use of Flowers or any kind of Candy is Not allowed * *
12. Garnishes should be prepared BEFORE going on stage in the Garnish Room !
13. No pre fixed or partly prepared garnish allowed.
14. Time for the garnishes preparation is fifteen (15′) minutes
15.Cocktails should be garnished always ON STAGE AFTER the cocktail prepared. * NO garnishing BEFORE the preparing of the cocktail allowed *
16.AVAILABLE GARNISHES : Lemons / Limes / Oranges / Cocktail Cherrys / Pineapple / Bananas / Strawberries
* * Freshly Sq. Lemon Juice / Freshly Sq. Lime Juice * *
17. Internationaly used condiments can be used : Salt / Sugar / Pepper / Nutmeg / Cinnamon / Chocolate etc
18. Any garnishes and or materials have to be aproved by the Cy.B.A. BEFORE the competition

FORMAT – JUDGING
19. All competitors have to be dressed up in the Association’s (Cy.B.A.) uniform or their hotels or bars uniform
20. Each competitor have seven (7′) minutes to prepare two (2) same cocktails of each category , Seven (7′) minutes for all the four (4′) cocktails in both categories.
21. A cocktail of each category goes to the two (2) panels of three (3) judges for evaluation and the other one goes to the public panel !
22.Winner of the competition is the competitor who collects the higher score from the taste judges of * BOTH CATEGORIES TOGETHER * AND WILL REPRESENT CYPRUS IN POLAND IN THE WORLD COCKTAIL COMPETITION
