Marcos Baghdatis is into the third round of the Australian open as he over came world No. 17 seed David Ferrer after yet another epic 5 set thriller at Melbourne Park, as he fought back from a two-set deficit and cramps late in the fifth set to defeat the Spaniard 4-6, 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-3, 6-1.
This is what he had to say after the match : “I was a bit frustrated in the beginning of the third. What I did is say to myself that I’ll just go on the court today and try to not miss a ball,” said Baghdatis. “Then I saw he was a bit tired, so it helped me fight even more. I saw a window open, so that’s how it went.
“Then my tennis came back. Started playing pretty good. Started playing a bit more aggressive. The serve came back in the fourth and the fifth set. I served pretty good, so I’m delighted I won.”
Baghdatis will next face a rematch with 2005 Australian Open finalist Lleyton Hewitt. The pair met two years ago in Melbourne, a match that Hewitt won in another five set match making it the latest ever finish in tournament history.
GOOD LUCK BAGHDATIS!
