Exclusive Set from DJ Melonic for OnThisIsland.com
DJ Melonic (born in Cyprus) had his first taste of music was when he was 4 years old, playing with a jukebox in his father’s cafe.
Later, at the age of 14, Melonic got his first synthesizer & started mixing his tunes for school parties. His first residency was in Limassol’s Tourist Area’s Mylos Club (at the age of 17) back in 1993. This is where he got his first taste of house music. In 1998 he tasted the atmosphere at an underground event for the first time & since then he has dedicated his music style to those of underground progressive beats.
Dj Melonic has been the leading resident & guest DJ for many clubs, bars & events around Cyprus & abroad, playing with some of the best names of electronic music scene like Marco V, Mauro Picotto, Eddie Halliwell, Andy Moor, Chris Lake, Nikki Belucci & many others including the best local DJ’s of the like of Andrewz Vee, Kn, PM, Aleka & many more. He has also performed his progressive sounds in others countries like Serbia Lebanon & Holland.
In 2004 he create his own label under the name MLC, where he released his remixes. Last year he created the promotion company PSYSHIKA, from where he is organizing events with guest DJ’s all over the world.
DJ Melonic now only performs for special events & is continually trying to promote only the best tunes from underground music scene.

Turkish Actor tries to retract Confession of War Crime
This is an update to the story about the Turkish Actor who Confessed to murdering 10 Greek-Cypriot soldiers, including one Prisoner of War.
The Turkish actor was hiding all morning and when he was found, he claimed that he had just made a scenario in his revelation to see the response.
The Turkish actor Atila Olgkats spins his story after the uproar he had caused from his confession that he had killed 10 Greek-Cypriots, including a 19 year old captive, during the 1974 Turkish Invasion in Cyprus. Now he declares that it was all just a made up scenario such that he could see people’s reactions! According to valid sources, there is an attempt from the government to silence the stories for reasons of national security. After yesterdays uproar, Atila Olgkats refused to speak with journalists, even though they have been searching for him from yesterday morning. Not only from Cyprus and Greece, but there had been an intense journalistic interest from Turkey also. The Turkish actor had his mobile phone turned off for many hours to avoid calls from reporters. He eventually turned it back on after he had this statement to make : “ It was just a scenario, it was not real. I said it just to see the reactions”.Was he lying? Is he being pressured to retract? “DISNEYLAND OF THE MEDITERRANEAN” IN PYLA?

RUSSIANS WISH TO INVEST 800 MILLION EUROS AND BRING HALF MILLION TOURISTS TO CYPRUS
Russian investors wish to build a theme park in Pyla in a land of over 600 donums. The project is estimated at a cost of 800 million Euros and if the plan materialises, will be the largest investment ever made in Cyprus, made with foreign investment capital, said Minister of Finance, Mr. Charilaos Stavrakis. According to the advisors of the investor group, the materialisation of this grand plan will have multiple benefits for Cyprus. To start, it will create 3,000 new jobs, but most importantly will attract a half million tourists per year with high buying power from Russia and other countries of the former Eastern block. -
