World Cup Video-game Contest

Oh how we love the World Cup. It gives us an excuse to consume an obscene amount of alcohol together with lots and lots of chips and nuts while it’s still daylight. It also gives us an excuse to leave work on time (or even earlier)! Maybe extend those lunch breaks as well?

Contest Instructions
In order to celebrate this heavenly event i am inviting you to answer a simple question “Which team will win the World Cup?”.
The winner of the contest can select one of the below games titles which will be mailed to him/her as soon as the World Cup is over. If there are two or more winners then a draw will be made to get the final winner.
1. God of War 3 (PS3)
2. Red Dead Redemption (PS3/360)
3. Alan Wake (360)
4. Heavy Rain (PS3)
5. Splinter Cell: Conviction (360)
6. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)
7. New Super Mario Bros (Wii)
You can post your choice of National team as comment on THIS post. The deadline for this is 23:59 Cyprus time June 10, 2010 (i.e. a day before the first day of the tournament). The only restriction to this is that you have to be a member of OnThisIsland with your Facebook account (more info here) and of course it’s a 1 team choice per member.

About Costas
Costas Taliadoros is an accountant by profession but a gamer at heart. He was born in Nicosia in 1977 and was raised by Donkey Kong. At a very young age he started piloting F-15 Strike Eagles over the Iraqi and Libyan deserts and has also seen action in an M1 Ambraams tank somewhere in Eastern Europe fighting against the Soviets. As the years went by, he was integrated into Civilization until he finally conquered the world and sent the first human mission to Alpha Centauri. It only strengthened his belief that he still has a lot to learn in this life. Nowadays Costas can be found on a couch playing games with friends and foes, with beer in close proximity. He is just a non-professional “writer” who loves games, books, comics, football, and running. He is also writing in the video-game site he co-founded, www.forevergamers.com, and on his personal blog, www.lostingames.net.

and the reason they will win it as they finally have a coach who can keep the players in order and the temperatures in south africa are round 5 degrees so its exactly the conditions they have in the premier league!
