Windows 8 Preview, the return of innovation at Microsoft?

A video has been going around showing the Director of Program Management for the Windows User Experience giving a quick run through of some of the new features of their next operating system code-named  ‘Windows 8’.

From a technical perspective, we can notice that they’ve broken away from the traditional desktop look and have opened up the Windows platform to even more developers by using HTML5 desktop apps.

What this could mean is that applications could be developed rapidly for multiple Windows devices such as tablets and PCs, meaning more and more applications for Windows users.

Even though the video uses a touchscreen to demonstrate the gestures, the system can be used using a mouse and keyboard as well.
