Water shortages are becoming a serious problem on this island. People need to start taking things more seriously. Water savings during the months of April to August have been much lower than the government target. Although the island did save a reported 21.75%, it was below the original government target of 30%. Limassol saved 23%, wheras more touristic areas such as Paphos and Ayia Napa dropped to a low 10-15%. As quoted by Kyriakos Theofilou, Head of the Meteorological Service, “this year is the second worst year of all times after 1972-3 regarding rainfall“. Enough said, start saving!
