troodosskii The Troodos Mountains in the centre of Cyprus are sufficiently lofty to provide good skiing conditions in winter, a fact which led to the founding of the Cyprus Ski Club, by Cypriot and British ski enthusiasts in 1947. Several FIS (International Ski Federation-recognised) events take place here, including an international competition. The piste on the FIS-recognised Dias Slope is maintained with the help of three computerised, mobile snow guns.
