The Academy Award for Best Original Song is one of the awards given annually to the songwriters who have composed the best original song written specifically for a film.The award category was introduced at the 7th Academy Awards, the ceremony honouring the best in film for 1934. Only songs that are “original and written specifically for the film” are eligible to win. A compilation of these songs are especially arranged by acclaimed maestro and pianist Richard Balcombe, to be performed in a unique performance of songs that made history as: “Up where we belong”, “Take my breathe away”, “Streets of Philadelphia”, “Evergreen”, “Que sera, sera” and many others. To perform all these songs, Richard Balcombe has invited the well recognised theatre performers Deborah Myers and Graham Bickley for their assisstance.
