The four day training camp that took place at the THOI Lakatamia stadium has come to an end.
The training camp in which 53 youngsters between the ages of 9 and 16 spent two 2 hour sessions a day under the guidance of 4 coaches from abroad, including Derek Langley who is Local Recruitment Officer for Manchester United, was organised by Antonakis Tsiaklis, an ex-Omonia Football Club player turned youth soccer coach.
In the concluding speeches from the coaches and Mr Tsiaklis, they thanked THOI Lakatamia for their hospitality and stated that they were impressed by the effort the boys put into the training sessions but that this was only the beginning of the hard work if they truelly wished to follow their dream of becoming professional soccer players and hoped to see them again at some point in the future.
Several players were also rewarded with Manchester United FC merchandise by the coaches for being the best players in their group, these are as follows:
- Yiannos Stoupis (AEP Pafos) in Group 1
- Nikolas D Ioannou (Academia Olimpico) in Group 2
- Nikolas A Ioannou (Club Unknown) in Group 3
- Theodoros Eleftheriou (Unsigned) in Group 4
- Evripides Hadjisofoklis recieved a special mention for his efforts in goalkeeping
