After last night’s thrilling 6 goal encounter with Inter Milan in the group stages of the Champions League, Anorthosis Famagusta fans, and all Cypriot football fans alike have got one idea in mind… A Cypriot team qualifying as one of the last 16 for the quarter finals of the prestigious European cup.

The local side, who hosted the game at Nicosia’s GSP Stadium, entered the pitch without 5 injured players to play one of the largest and most feared teams in Europe. But after 4 terrible defensive mistakes, the game was tied at 2-2. From where Anorthosis scored a screaming teamwork goal, and held the Italian champions at a 3-2 result until the dying minutes of the game, where Inter then showed their set-piece ability, with Cruz headering a goal in.

Final result 3-3 leaving Anorthosis in second place on the group standings. With Bremen and Panathinaikos coming up in the next mont, at home and away respectfully, Anorthosis is chasing a victory in one of the matches to assure a place in the next round.
