Rubberlegz – Rauf Yasit interviewed OnThisIsland.com!

rubberlegzTo all those who may not know who Rubberlegz is, he is a German, world-famous artist seeking his passion through dancing and out there to influence others with his unique ways! Here’s what he had to say to us and his fans!

How many years have you achieved the dream of being a break dancer?

I started break dancing in 1998. In 2002 I started to create my own style, which is on an other level than Break Dancing. Many people don’t call it break dancing anymore, but I don’t have a problem with that.

Is it your only passion? I remember you mentioning to me your interest in art and music as rock in contrast to the type of dance you do.

Yes, I kind of listen to any type of music, but my favorite is PostHardcore/ and electronicPunk. One of my other passions is Motion Design.

Wow, that sounds great! Motion design, that’s interesting. So you are an all-rounded artist!

Yes I am πŸ˜€

Why do you think people don’t consider it as break dance? Is it because your style of dance is not the same as everyone else’s?

Why people don’t consider it as break dance? Maybe because they are jealous or because they really dont see the breaking elements in it… I don’t have a problem with that though, I am happy that people recognize my style. Envy is the highest form of compliment.

How did you get involved in BOTY as one of the judges? Did you only judge the BOTY Balkans? Or did you got through until the end?

I got contacted by the BOTY head-office. I Judged BOTY Balkans 2008 in Thessaloniki and the BOTY Preliminaries Limassol/Cyprus.

What was your opinion on the results of BOTY generally?

I think the results of BOTY were fair. We were 3 Judges, each person made their own decision.

How did you find your visit and stay in cyprus?

I really loved my visit in Cyprus, I had 3 great days. It was my first time in Cyprus, loved the culutre and I really enjoyed my Hotel… I had a huge pool outside πŸ˜‰ hahaha

Great! Where are you now and what are you doing in terms of your career?

Right now I am preparing myself for a big Battle at the end of May, I try to practise as much as possibile. I haven’t been to any competitions in a while and this one is just going to be the right one.

Good luck with it! Where do you see yourself in the future?

I see myself still doing my thing πŸ™‚

Now that’s what i call passion! Keep it up and i wish you the best of luck in everything! Thank you for your time, you should come by and visit the island again!

Keep safe!
