On the 5th of April 2005, the very first page was uploaded and OnThisIsland.com was born. Today I have to say a massive thank you to everyone for everything you’ve contributed over the last 9 years.
Whether you shared an event with us, won a ticket, found out about an event, followed a live-blog, read a post, submitted a comment, smiled at an article, or helped with running things behind the scene… I thank you all so very very much much! It’s been an amazing 9 years, thank you all for being a part of the OnThisIsland.com story!
Whilst I jotted down some of the most memorable milestones into ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’ over on my personal blog (here), I wanted to quickly remind you all that I haven’t forgotten the promises I made to all of you during the economic freeze last year…
We will continue to help the diverse communities of our island move forward, through OnThisIsland.com and it’s sister projects.
Since then:
- we’ve launched and grown Desk&Co Cyprus to help freelancers and entrepreneurs find affordable desk space island-wide,
- opened up the OnThisIsland Storytellers Programme to help aspiring journalists and bloggers,
- and begun listing Tech Job opportunities at some of the most dynamic companies, on our home page.
This is nowhere near enough, and we still have loads to do, so keep an eye on our facebook and twitter, especially if you’re a performer of any kind.
Here’s to our tenth year online! Thank you all once again.
