FIBA All Star Game 2008 @ Spyros Kyprianou (Limassol)

FIBA All Star Game 2008Limassol will host the event for the fourth consecutive year at Palais des Sports “Spyros Kyprianou”, the home of EuroCup Final Four participants Proteas EKA AEL.

The voting is over and the starting five for the EuroCup All Star Game has been decided with Tartu Rock center Brian Cusworth leading the way.

The 2.13m big man received the most votes of any player and will lead a Rest of the World team frontline Brian Michael Cusworth (Tartu Rock) which will also feature Demetrius Alexander of Barons and Adrian Henning of Lappeenranta.

Rounding out the starting five will be Joseph Smith of Spartak St. Petersburg and hometown favorite Duane Woodward from All Star Game hosts Proteas EKA AEL.

Woodward has had an impressive season for the Final Four participants as the team’s second leading scorer at 13.5 points per contest.  He has also dished out 3.8 assists per game and grabbed 3.1 rebounds.

His team’s top scorer Milutin Aleksic will lead the Europe team and be joined at the forward position by Sasa Bratic of Khimik.

Aleksic is the third leading scorer in the competition at 17.9 points per game while also hauling in an impressive 7.3 rebounds per contest and dealing out 4.5 assists.

The center for the Europe team will be Kresimir Loncar of Lokomotiv Rostov.  The Croatian averaged 14.8 points and 5.8 rebounds through six EuroCup games.

The backcourt will be a Baltic affair with George Tsintsadze of Tartu Rock and Armands Skele of Barons the choices.

Tsintsadze has been a revelation for the Estonians, leading the team in points, assists and steals while Skele has been one of the driving forces behind a successful Barons side.

The EuroCup All Star Game will take place on 25th March in Limassol, Cyprus, home of Proteas EKA AEL.
