Last night, facebook announced their ‘new Groups’ application. With these new pages, users can stay connected with groups of people that share a proper interest, unlike the previous types of groups that were mostly for spam, ‘being cool’ or showing that you’d like to support a cause or organisation.
Facebook slowly depreciated the original ‘groups’ by implementing pages (which allowed artists/organisations/companies/brands to gather not only a strong following, but receive feedback from their support).
Possible options for using the new groups :
Organising teams – whether for programming, business, sales or sports the multichat and integrated walls and notifications will make sure everyone gets the message 🙂
Interest Clubs – whether for reading books, discussing planes, or even just friends who love scuba diving, the new groups allow you all to keep in contact on another level.
Other small collections of friends or family – want to share some pictures, links or information with only a few people on a regular basis, check it out 🙂
The multi-chat, lets you chat to whoever happens to be online from the group at the same time 🙂 Good times!
To start your own small groups simply head over to www.facebook.com/groups
